Do I need to update the Espen before first use?
No, when you connect Espen to the internet, it will automatically update with available firmware updates.
"No Espen found" when using https://espen.cloud
If https://espen.cloud displays "No Espen found" it means that Espen is not connected to the internet and therefore cannot connect to Fever Cloud.
What should you do?
Check that the LAN cable is connected to Espen and that the yellow and green LED lights are on, confirming an internet connection.
If that does not help, test if you can connect to the internet by plugging the LAN cable into your laptop and visiting a website like https://google.com.
If you can access the internet via the LAN cable, try connecting a different Espen. If this solves the issue, please use the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of this page and contact us with the following information:
Troubleshooting steps that were tested on the non-working device.
The serial number of the inverter and battery.
The MAC ID of the non-working Espen.

"Asset connection – connection established to asset" has a red cross
If https://espen.cloud displays "Asset connection" with a red cross, it means that we can’t communicate with the inverter through Modbus.
What should you do?
Check that the Modbus cable is properly connected and wait 5 minutes before checking the status again on https://espen.cloud.
Unsure how to connect the Modbus cable on the inverter side? Refer to the installation manual for here.
If you have the equipment to perform a continuity test on the Modbus cable, check that the cables are not broken.
If https://espen.cloud still shows that the asset connection is not established, ensure that the inverter firmware is up to date (or at least matches the required firmware version).
If the Modbus cable is correctly connected, the inverter firmware is updated, and https://espen.cloud still shows a red cross, please use the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of this page and contact us with the following information:
Troubleshooting steps that were tested.

Note: In some cases, we may need support from the inverter manufacturer.
Error message “Installation test”
If https://espen.cloud shows a red cross for “Installation test,” it means Espen’s connection to the inverter isn’t working as expected.
What should you do?
Check the Modbus cable and the inverter firmware according to the instructions for Error message “Asset connection”.
If the inverter is connected to a battery, the battery’s State of Charge (SOC) must be between 30–90%. Please verify this.
If the Modbus cable is correctly connected, the inverter firmware is up to date, and https://espen.cloud still shows a red cross, please use the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of this page and contact us with the following information:
