Installing Espen with Modbus TCP static IP address inverters

Updated over a week ago

Please note this applies to most Espen TCP installations apart from SolarEdge where the process is a little different, detailed here.

When installing a battery and inverter for the first time, it is important to check that the inverter has the firmware version specified here.

Process for setting up an Epsen installation that requires Modbus TCP.

  1. Start by configuring a static IP address in the inverter in the LAN.

  2. Install Espen in the LAN.

  3. The Espen will boot and scan the LAN and collect IP address targets to be tested for the Espen Modbus Discovery. The Modbus Discovery will take a little longer, so please give this a full 5 minutes before checking the results.

  4. Go to Espen.cloud and type in the Espen ID. If all fields are green, the installation is complete.

  5. If the asset is not connected, please take note of the IP address and send an email to [email protected] requesting IP configuration with the IP address included in the email.
