Requirement: Your phone or laptop must be on the same network as the Espen.
From your phone you can check the internet and asset connection, rerun the installation test, filter asset discovery and erase old settings, without contacting support or opening Fever Enterprise.
Open the status page
Connect your phone or laptop to the same Wi-Fi/LAN as the Espen.
In your browser, go to http://espen-<mac>.local, where <mac> is the Espen MAC address in lowercase without colons.
Example: http://espen-ee00u000d.local.
Only one Espen on the network? http://espen.local also works.
Name doesn't resolve (common on some Android phones)? Find the Espen's IP address in the router's DHCP client list and open http://<ip>.
The page shows the Espen MAC address and three status cards: Internet connection, Asset connection and Installation test. It refreshes automatically.
Page won't load? The page goes to sleep after 5 minutes without a visit so it doesn't affect normal operation. Power-cycle the Espen, wait about 1 minute until it's back online, and try again. The page only runs when the Espen has a private (LAN) IP address, never on a public IP.
Check the internet connection
The Internet connection card shows whether the Espen is online and whether it sits behind a router (LAN) or directly on the public internet.
Check the Internet connection card. A green tick means the Espen reaches the Fever cloud.
Tap the card to expand it.
Private IP address: Yes confirms the Espen is on a local network behind a router. This is the expected setup.
If the page won't load and the Espen is plugged straight into a modem or public line, it is on the public internet. Move it behind the customer's router.
MQTT connected: Yes confirms the cloud link is up. Current IP address, Network mask and Gateway help when checking the router.
Check the connected asset
The Asset connection card shows which inverter or battery the Espen found and how it communicates with it.
Check the Asset connection card. A green tick means the Espen is connected to an asset.
Tap the card to expand it.
Compare the details with the asset label on site:
Manufacturer, Model, Serial number.
Interface (Modbus mode): RTU (RS485 cable) or TCP (network).
Slave ID, plus IP address and Port for TCP, or baud rate for RTU.
Wrong asset or no asset found? Use Filter asset discovery below. While the Espen is still searching, the card lists recent attempts and any potential assets found on the LAN.
Re-run the installation test
Once you have fixed an issue on site, you can rerun the installation test yourself. No support ticket or Fever Enterprise needed.
Make sure the Internet connection and Asset connection cards both show a green tick.
Check the Installation test card:
Passed (green tick): nothing to do.
Failed (red cross): the card shows the error, e.g. a missing battery response. Fix the cause on site first.
Not run yet: wait 2 minutes. If it still hasn't run, a rerun link appears.
Tap Rerun test and confirm.
The card shows Re-running... with an orange icon. Keep the page open; the result appears within a few minutes.
The rerun link only appears when the test has failed or hasn't run. It is disabled during a software update.
Filter asset discovery
Tell the Espen exactly which asset to look for: a manufacturer, model, Modbus mode and/or fixed IP address. Use this when the Espen picks the wrong device or can't find the right one.
Open the status page and tap the ⋮ menu (top right).
Tap Filter Asset Discovery. This option becomes available after the Espen's first asset search.
Set only the fields you need and leave the rest on Any:
Manufacturer: e.g. Sungrow.
Model: requires a manufacturer first.
Modbus mode: RTU (RS485 cable) or TCP (network).
IP address: a single IPv4 address, e.g. 192.168.1.50. TCP only.
Tap Apply and search again and confirm. The Espen drops its current asset connection and searches again, without rebooting.
Watch the Asset connection card until it shows the expected asset with a green tick.
To remove the filter: set every field back to Any and apply again.
Erase settings to re-use an Espen on a new site
Erase Settings wipes the previous site's configuration, including the Modbus/asset configuration, so you can reinstall the Espen elsewhere without contacting support.
Install the Espen on the new site and make sure the Internet connection card shows a green tick. Erasing requires the cloud connection.
Open the status page and tap the ⋮ menu (top right).
Tap Erase Settings and confirm.
The Espen erases its settings and reboots. The page shows "Espen is rebooting" and refreshes automatically.
After the reboot, the Espen searches for the asset on the new site from scratch. Check the Asset connection card, then the Installation test card.
Do not use Reset (red) unless customer support asks you to. It is a full factory reset that also wipes the Espen's cloud identity. Erase Settings, Reboot and Reset are disabled during a software update.
