Fever Espen Modbus TCP (GoodWe)

Installation instructions for connecting Espen to a GoodWe inverter via Modbus TCP.

Updated over a week ago

When installing a new battery and inverter, it is important to ensure that the inverter has the firmware version specified here.

A minimum SOC protection limit of 10% is recommended within the system settings to safeguard battery health and prevent complete discharge during offline or loss-of-communication events.

Installation Instructions

  1. Configure a Static IP Address and IP Settings

    a) The installer must configure a static IP address for the GoodWe inverter on the local network (LAN).

    b) Click “Internet access port”, select “LAN”, and enable “DHCP”.

  2. Connect Espen to a Power Outlet

Connect the power adapter to the USB-C port on Espen to supply power.

  3. Connect Espen to the Router and Configure Settings

    1. Connect Espen to the router using a LAN cable. The yellow and green LEDs next to the LAN port on Espen will light up when the connection is successful.

    2. Select “Power Limit” settings and disable “Power limit”.

    c) Select “Limit protection” and turn off “SOC protection”.

    d) Ensure that the default slave ID is set and remains at 247.

  4. Scan the Network

Espen will start up and scan the local network to collect IP address targets to be tested for Espen Modbus Discovery.

  5. Wait 5 Minutes

Espen will automatically connect to the GoodWe inverter.

  6. Verify the Installation

After installation, the device will automatically connect to the internet for device control.

Installation verification: Approximately 5 minutes after installation, go to Espen.cloud and enter the MAC ID, which can be found on the sticker on the side of the device.

The installation must be verified to ensure proper functionality of Espen and the inverter.

If three green checkmarks are displayed: Done! Everything looks good.
